our history

mamfebie

The work of Signpost Philippines Incorporated, formerly Signpost International Inc, began in 1992 following a visit by an Anglican minister to an urban slum in Iloilo City.

Sir Kerry Dixon was deeply moved by his experiences in the Philippines, and as a result, founded the organisation with the aim of sharing the love of Jesus Christ in word and action, particularly with poor, disadvantaged and marginalised people.

The organisation started its child sponsorship scheme, alongside other projects such as housing and medical assistance in 1995. The scheme set out to help very poor Filipino children by increasing their access to education and medical assistance through monthly cash grants and providing a regular allocation of rice. This program was organised through Signpost International in the UK.

In August 2002, Signpost Philippines Incorporated was registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission in the Philippines as a Non-Government Organisation (NGO) to operate independently within the Philippines.
